A couple of drawings from our recent Country Garden House project. The ground floor plan was carefully reconfigured to show an expanded kitchen and new dining space, enclosed by glass and Northamptonshire stone. The materials and details of the new extension create a gentle transition between the garden and the existing building fabric, drawing nature into the interior and bringing additional light into the spaces.

The full height entrance hall creates a focal point at the centre of the contemporary farmhouse. Supported by two exposed masonry walls, a bridge formed from solid oak beams connects the principal bedroom and ensuite with the rest of the first floor, creating elevated views of the landscape to the West and East of the building. The staircase and banister details have been carefully crafted from solid oak by @coachhousejoinery .

A selection of exterior shots of our modern farm house project in North Hertfordshire. Taking full advantage of the spectacular views, the building has been broken down into a main house and three separate outbuildings. Each portion has been detailed differently and use recognisable, simple materials that draw on the local residential and agricultural vernacular allowing it to embed itself carefully into the landscape. Over the next week or so we will be posting more photographs of the interior of the project and smaller details so keep your eyes peeled!
